Three generations, one counter

Shri Girdhari Lal Saraf opened this shop in 1955 with a simple idea: keep the gold pure, keep the price explainable, and give people the time to choose properly. The family still works that way.

    The shop opens

    Shri Girdhari Lal Saraf opened on Ajmal Khan Road with one rule: pure gold, a fair price, and the bill explained. In the early years it was word of mouth that brought people in.

  2. 1970s–2024

    Rakesh Saraf

    Rakesh Saraf kept the shop to the founder's standard for five decades and served as General Secretary of the Karol Bagh Jewellers' Association. Many customers from those years still come with their children.

    The third generation

    Same counter, same way of working: hallmarked gold, certified stones, the making charge on its own line, and the time to help you choose well.

What we do

Bring a piece in, or start something from scratch. No appointment needed for repairs, and no charge to have something looked at and valued.

Custom design
Bring a photo, a drawing, or an old piece you want remade. We show you the design, then the wax, before anything is cast — you approve each step before we go further.
Repairs & resizing
Ring resizing, chain and clasp repair, restringing, polishing, rhodium. Old and heirloom pieces are handled by our own karigars. No appointment needed — just bring it in.
Old gold exchange
Old gold is weighed and tested in front of you and valued at the day's rate. We tell you the deduction before you agree. You do not need to have bought it from us.
Making charges
Among the lowest in Karol Bagh, and written as a separate line on the bill next to the gold weight and the rate. Compare our bill with anyone's.

A Government Registered Valuer, so valuations for insurance, probate and exchange are done in-house.

What is today's gold rate in Karol Bagh?
The rate board at the top of this page shows today's 24K, 22K, 18K and 14K gold rate per 10 grams, taken from IBJA, the Indian bullion benchmark. It updates through the day. This is the metal rate — making charges and 3% GST are added at billing. Call us for the counter rate before you set out.
Are your making charges per gram or a percentage?
Per gram on plain gold, and a percentage on detailed kundan and polki work. Either way it is a separate line on your bill, never mixed into the gold rate. Ask for the making charge before you decide, and compare it.
Is all your gold hallmarked?
Yes. Every gold piece carries the BIS hallmark and a HUID number. You can check the HUID on the BIS Care app while you are in the shop.
Do you take old gold in exchange?
Yes, whether or not it was bought from us. It is weighed and tested in front of you and valued at the day's rate, and we explain any deduction before you agree to anything.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in any day except Monday. For a wedding set it helps to tell us beforehand so we can keep the right pieces out for you — leave your number below and we will call.
