Repairs & resizing
Last updated August 2026
We repair jewellery whether or not it came from us, including heirloom pieces that need careful handling. No appointment is needed to drop something in.
What we take on
- Ring resizing, up or down, including rings with stones set around the band.
- Chain and clasp repair, re-soldering and re-stringing.
- Stone re-setting and replacement, including kundan and polki re-foiling.
- Polishing, re-plating and general restoration of older pieces.
- Restringing of pearl and bead work.
Quoting
Every repair is quoted before work starts. For straightforward jobs we quote at the counter; for anything needing the workshop’s assessment, we call you with a figure within two working days. Nothing is begun until you approve the price.
If we open a piece up and find the job is larger than it looked, we stop and call you rather than continuing and adding to the bill.
Turnaround
- Simple resizing and clasp work: typically 3–5 working days.
- Stone setting and re-foiling: typically 7–10 working days.
- Full restoration of antique pieces: assessed individually; usually 2–4 weeks.
Wedding season and festival periods run longer. We will tell you honestly when you drop the piece in.
How your piece is handled
Every item is weighed and photographed when it is taken in, and you receive a receipt recording the weight, the stones and the agreed work. It is weighed again on collection in front of you.
Repairs on high-value or heavily stone-set pieces are carried out by our own karigars. Nothing leaves our premises without being recorded.
Collection
Bring your receipt. We hold completed repairs for 90 days and will call and message you when the piece is ready. If you need longer, tell us and we will keep it in the safe.
Guarantee on repair work
Our own repair work is guaranteed for six months. If the same joint or setting fails again in that time, we will redo it at no charge.
